Soggy Swarms

With the weather being as bad as it has been and our honeybees still swarming. Meridian Swarm Collectors were called out to a swarm that had been out all night in that pouring rain and cold.

On arrival, we were surprised at the number of bees that were still there and had also survive the down pours of Saturday night.

As we lifted up the nettles branch by branch one stem seemed to be holding most of the bees. This made it so much easier to place them into the six frame nuc that we had filled with some build out wax frames and new foundation frames.

After the first group was placed into the box we noticed that some of the bees started to fan on the top of frames which was a good sign that we head the queen in there as well.

After the lid was placed on, the bees from the front started to walk in. Some not so fast but after all the rain and the cold they were probably a little lethargic and just need to warm up.

The Nuc was then left in situ for the reminder was the day with a hope that the rest of bees once warmed up will head into the nuc with the other.
