Here are the dates for our 2023 apiary meetings. This page will also display reports from each meeting as they occur.
Our next meeting
Saturday 15 April, 10.00 – 12.00, West End Apiary. Full spring inspections (checking health of the colonies); possible comb changes; Bailey or Shook.
Other scheduled meetings this year
Saturday 20 May 14.00 – 16.00 Swanmore Apiary. Possible themes: comb changes, artificial swarms.
Saturday 17 June 10.00 – 12.00 West End Apiary. Possible themes: Artificial swarm, Demaree (swarm prevention), Miller (queen rearing).
Saturday 29 July 14.30 – 16.30 Swanmore Apiary. Full inspections, sugar roll.
Saturday 26 August 10.00 – 12.00 West End Apiary. Full inspections, possibly Varroa treatment, combining colonies.
Saturday 16 September 14.30 – 16.30 Swanmore Apiary. Winter preparation.
Saturday 14 October 11.30 Swanmore OR Sunday 15 October 11.30 Swanmore, apiary tidy, building frames and boxes, cleaning and storing equipment. We would welcome your help on one of these days. Count me in!

A report from our April 2022 meeting
Sunday 24 April, West End apiary. The meeting started with drama; Lucy and Mike’s very strong colony (which they were planning to split that day) sent out a primary swarm followed in quick succession by a sizeable cast swarm! Where can you buy a couple of hives on a Sunday afternoon? 24 April
