The bees were supposed to make worker brood in the top and drone in the bottom. They’ve made drone in both. I have already done 2 drone culls in this colony and they are nice bees. So I culled the bottom and returned to the colony. I have not seen phoretic varroa, or deformed wing etc in this colony this year. They have not reached the threshold for chemical treating for 5 years. I drone cull and dust with icing sugar as part of my varroa management plan.
